Blues guitarist dishes with deli By Sean McCarthy Assignment Reporter The blues and M&N Sandwich Shop will get a little closer this weekend when local blues guitarist Sean Benjamin performs a special supper show Saturday night. The Chicago-style deli, 2643 Randolph St., has forged a strong allegiance with the Lincoln blues community since it opened. The shop’s walls are decorated with autographs of blues artists who have frequented the sandwich shop. Norm Kusinski, owner of M&N, said he hoped to attract new customers with the open-stage performance. He also hoped to attract blues fans who may not be able to get into the downtown bars. “This was originally a family type store, so for people who don’t drink, when something like this comes up, it’s really nice,” he said. Kusinski said he hoped to attract additional musicians for more nighttime performances that he’ll schedule around football games, the availability of the artist and, of course, the schedule of the Zoo Bar. Benjamin is set to play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The blues great has opened for Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everly Brothers and Bo Diddley. u This was originally a family type store, so for people who don't drink, when something like this comes up, it's really nice." Though Benjamin’s favorite dishes at M&N are either the Italian beef pastrami sandwich or the pastrami burger, Kusinski said he’ll have something for everyone when Benjamin performs. “Our menu is as varied as his music.
