Each one held a slender white candle to represent the light that one former UNL student gave to the world. Though the breeze blew out some of the 30 flames, the candle holders turned to each other to relight the black wicks. The memory of Candi Harms, a freshman who was kidnapped, raped and murdered in 1992, will live for ever, they said, because of an S shaped bench that now sits on the northwest corner of greenspace at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Friends, family and friends of family gathered to dedicate the memorial - almost five years after Harms disap peared.
