Food, music join forces
for Lincoln’s first RibFest
By Gerry Beltz

Lick your lips and grab your bibs; ready or
not, here come the ribs!
Lincoln’s first RibFest will be held this
Friday though Sunday outside Pershing
Municipal Auditorium, 15th and N Streets. The
RibFest will run from 11 a.m. to midnight
Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on
Sunday.
Derek Andersen, Marketing Director for
Pershing Auditorium, said the idea of a festival
of barbecue ribs and chicken is nothing new.

Minneapolis, Minn, and Fargo, ND, have held
three and four-day festivals in the past with
great success, he said.
“I figured, ‘why not?,” Andersen said.
Andersen said he found that the common
thread to the success stories of other festivals
was bringing in award-winning barbecue ven

will be no different, with participants coming in
from Illinois, Florida, Kentucky, Iowa and two
from Ohio.
“In fact, two of our vendors have won 130

itself sucks sour frog butts.
Based on the hit comic, special agent
A1 Simmons (Michael Jai White) decides
to hang up his grenades and secret
decoder ring to pursue a more lucrative
career in reality with his wife Wanda
(Theresa Randle, “Bad Boys”). But stan- {
dard magalomaniac Jason Wynn (Martin ^
Sheen) has other plans for our hero.
After getting being covered in exper
imental green goo and set on fire (i.e.
dying), Simmons goes to ... well, a real
