Search for music can end in several Lincoln stores By Cliff Hicks Staff Reporter New in town and trying to figure out where to buy your CDs from? Well, there’s plenty of choices on where to go. Let’s assume for the moment that you’re poor and want to get the CD as cheaply as possible. (Not that it’s a stretch — being poor is a requirement for being in college.) The place to start is the used CD stores. Homer’s has a fairly good selec tion and two locations, but the 14th & O store has a bigger used CD selec tion, even if it can be rather hard to search through sometimes. Their prices are pretty good and there’s a solid collection of great tunes and awful garbage, so you can decide for yourself which is which. Zero Street Records is right there too, so you can check them out. Although they have a fairly small selection, they have some things that you’d probably never find elsewhere. Recycled Sounds has the same type of pros and cons. Small selec tion, wide diversity, cramped space. Both Zero Street and Recycled Sounds are packed with stuff so it can be hard to manuver, but some gems lie hidden just waiting for prying eyes to find them. Prices aren’t too bad at either store. Disc-Go-Round has probably the biggest selection of used CDs in town, but they tend to be more of the mainstream stuff and, like any used CD store, the less heard of the artist is, the harder it’ll be to find them. Prices are reasonable. All in all, Disc Go-Round is the best choice. So if you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, you’ll need to start attacking new CD stores and price again determines where you should start. If staying cheap is your goal, Best Buy is probably the best place to start. Their selection is pretty vast and their prices are impossible to beat. Service can be scarce if you’re looking for something and you don’t find it right off the bat, but as Bob Barker is known for saying, the price is right. Homer’s has infinitely better ser vice, with employees who are deter mined to find whatever it is you’re looking for, but their new CD prices are a good couple of dollars higher, mainly because that’s all they sell. Their selection is also a little bit wider than Best Buy, so you can locate all the hard-to-find artists on indepen dent labels that most people have never heard of. If what you’re looking for is really mainstream and both Best Buy and Homers are sold out, you can always try Super KMart, Target or Barnes & Noble, but their prices are sinfully high and the selections are small. Your options aren’t small by any means, so if you’re looking for some thing, there’s a good chance you’ll find it if you search long and hard enough. $3.25per day for 15 words on individual student and student organization ads. $4.50 per day for 15 words on non-student ads. $.15 each additional word. $.75 billing charge.
