I Presidential candidates Brent Robertson, sophomore agriculture major Robertson has been involved in RHA since his freshman year, when he was the social com mittee chair. He is now a member of the RHA executive board and a committee chairman. Goals: Robertson said he wants to improve the communication between the halls and RHA and to get more feedback from the residents on what they want. “Many residents have strong opinions that just never get heard,” he said. Beu Wallace, sophomore French major This is Wallace's second year in RHA. He is speaker of the senate and a committee chair man. Wallace was also a senator for Harper Hall, the moderator for the Diversity Council and an ASUN committee liaison. Goals: Wallace also said he aims to improve communication between the RHA and students living in the halls. “RHA doesn’t do enough with students in volving the important issues,” Wallace said. He also wants to install more change ma chines in the residence halls. Vice presidential candidates Julie Schoolmeester, freshman English major Schoolmeester is the RHA secretary pnd a Smith Hall floor senator. She also is on the RHA publicity committee. Goals: Schoolmeester said her goals include more publicity for issues that involve RHA, installing change machines in the halls that don’t have than and strengthening the connec tion between RHA and the Association of Stu dents of the University of Nebraska. Alan Nietfeldt, junior agriculture business major Nietfeldt is now RHA vice president and is running for re-election. Nietfeldt also is on two RHA committees and is the president of Bun Hall. Goals: Nietfeldt said he wants to improve the relations between RHA and other campus organizations and to sponsor more community programs. He wants to strengthen communi cation with the residents through comment boxes in the halls. Tteasurer candidates Kristen Morrow, sophomore physics and engineering major Morrow is the treasurer of College Repub licans and attends Neihardt Hall government meetings. By Sarah Baker Staff Reporter Residence Hall Association elections for the 1997-98 academic year are today. Any student who lives in a residence hall is eligible to vote in the elections. Students must vote at the hall where they live. Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 7 pan. in all the food service buildings. She also wants to give students a more positive outlook cm RHA and to get them involved. Stephanie Dill, freshman civil engineering major Dill is an Abel Hall senator and is on the Abel Hall social committee. Goals: Dill said she wants to improve com munication between RHA and .other campus organizations. She hopes to make RHA more visible and better at serving residents. Goals: Kwang said she wants to give the students the chance to leam more about what RHA does and wants to create enthusiasm among the residents. Individual hall presidential candidates Abel President: Matte Knobe, sophomore computer science major Knobe is now president of Abel Hall and an RHA senator. He is running for re-election. Goals: Knobe said he wants to find more residents of Abel who are concerned with the conditions of the residence hall. He wants to find floor representatives who are dedicated and will regularly attend hall meetings. Smith President: Amber Bourek, sophomore advertising major Bourek is a Smith Hall senator as well as a -:-1 i- - member of the RHA executive board. Goals: Bourek said her main concern is safety in the halls. She wants to install locks on each floor of Smith and give residents a key to their floor stairway doors to prevent non residents of that floor from entering. Schramm President: Allison Preston, junior anthropology major Preston is a member of the social commit tee for Harper-Schramm-Smith government and is the Hall Orientation Teams coordinator. Goals: Preston said she wants to sponsor more educational events in the HSS complex, as well as to work with student assistants and the community. earner rresident: scon Brauer, sopnomore biological science and pre-med major Brauer is involved in hall government and is the Cather Hall treasurer. Brauer was also a candidate for ASUN president. Goals: Brauer wants to install safety lights in the stairwells and to represent accurately the interests of the residents of Cather. Ponnd President: Heather Olsen, junior agronomy major Olsen has been involved with the Sandoz Hall government and is the Pound Hall presi dent. She is running for re-election. Goals: Olsen said she wants to improve the hall government. She also wants to improve communication outside RHA. Sandoz President: Michele Lueders, fresh man family sciences major Lueders is involved in ha hall government and is a member of the Sandoz executive board. Goals: Lueders said she wants to bring more activities to Sandoz.
