And f pray” that at some point in my life, all the 1 mystical forces I will converge. 1 bestowing upon me a “look.” A ■ look that will say I “Hey! She’s with I it!” In the | meantime, I closet’s meagi *.* I am a fas the traditional-sense. I don’t wear plaids and*stripes simultaneously. You will neither catch me in July with black socks to mid-calf nor will you ever have to gasp in horror at my stunning visual array of greens — fluorescent to lime to moss. uespue wnai my mouier says, i do have some fashion sense. When asked, my roommate calls me a fashion extremist. She says I’m either in jeans and a sweat shirt or a :; suit She’* right. That’s about the fl.r=: extent of my repertoire. The land of the happy medium is an elusive and an expensive beast. There is a definite chasm of fashion choices within my wardrobe. Right now, I possess the two easiest alternatives. Let’s face it, sloth wear is sloth wear. A sweat shirt is still a sweat shirt whether it bears letters, “Husk ers” or “John’s Auto Show.” As far as I’m concerned — far as that may be — the business world is just as easy. It’s filled with timeless, you-just-can’t-go-wrong styles. Just look to the enduring wingtip, die shell and black suit. «7--5 * -X This is how I see it: Fm my own fashion vortex, plucking the practical from the massive urban fashion jungle. Bell-bottoms, spandex and other obnoxious fads are the equivalent of quicksand, diptheria and mosquitos ” It’s just that middle ground that I have a few problems with.... Like brown shoes. Evgryone wears brown shoes, right? It’s a pretty standard occurreEfcjb, but I just can’t seem to jump oifthe band wagon. I vaguely recall having some brown sandals about Jour years ago. Before that, well, I don’t think there is a before. . / That mysteriousltmddle ground also contains the tumultuous world of fad. Those trendy outfits that look good on runway models and few others, yet still seem to appear in high schools and colleges around the country. Simple and classic are my favorite looks. They’re safe and comfortable. I tend to choose the practical over the impractical; navy over metallic azure, melon versus hunter orange. Catch the drift? 4 3&^***' I’m neither trendy nor preppy, This coming from a woman who lives in jean dresses and Birkenstocks. % But I’m not quite fancy-fthe in * •* my choices either.
