Sound’resurrects classic film noir,

less-than-phenomenal performance.
The three are caught in a web spun
by Corky and Violet to steal $2 mil
lion in mafia money, which is being
held by Caeser right next door. Ihis
plan is hatched as a product of a bud
ding lesbian affair after Violet real
izes that Corky is gay. Violet asserts
herself and a few rather incredible love
scenes ensue.
“Bound” is both Gothic and sur
real; it's sensual in its content and
gripping in its ambient camera work.
The musical score brilliantly paces the
fim, complementing subtle humor
with jazz and stretching suspense with
laboring strings.

“That’s what I think is unique
about The Wonsers,” he said. “Pete
writes good enough songs that we
don’t need the extras.”
Along with writing the bass and
guitar parts, Peter also writes most of
the lyrics. His thought-provoking,
well-crafted lyrics have an echo of
1960s-esque acoustic poetry, an obser
vation he said isn’t totally far-fetched.
“Our parents were hippies. Matt
and I grew up running around naked
in a park,” he said.
After Saturday, the band will be
sticking close to home, as Peter’s go
ing to be a father soon. In the mean
time, they’re working on another CD,
to be released on their own label.
The Wonsers will be playing with
Lincoln’s Shithook at Knickerbockers
Saturday. The show has a $3 cover
charge. Shithook will take the stage
around 10:30 p.m., and The Wonsers
will play around 11:30.
