NEW YORK (AP) — First the
secret pregnancy. Then the private,
private wedding. Now—ta dah!—
Michael Jackson’s new bride shows
up topless on the pages of a tabloid
newspaper. *
The New York Post on Saturday
published a photo of Debbie Rowe
that it said was taken three years ago
in the office of a Beverly Hills der
matologist where she worked.
The picture, altered to obscure
Rowe’s bare breasts, shows her re
clining in a chair, with a foot
propped on the edge of a desk and
her dress down to her waist.
Jackson announced Nov. 4 that
Rowe was pregnant with his child,
denying repots that they used arti
ficial insemination and that Rowe
was paid $528,000 to carry the
baby, due in February.
They were married Thursday in
a private ceremoiy in Sydney, Aus
tralia, where Jackin is on tour.
The Post said the picture was
taken by a photographer assigned
to take pictures for a magazine pro
file of Rowe’s employer, dermatolo
gist Arnold Klein. ,
Rowe joked that it would be
funny to have her picture taken top
less in Klein’s examining chair, then
unbuttoned her dress and smiled,
the Post reported, citing an anony
mous source.
“Check these out,” she report
edly told the surprised photogra
pher.
Sitcom jumps
to NBC slot
NEW YORK (AP) — Tea
Leoni’s sitcom “The Naked Thith”
has a new home, moving to NBC to
join “Friends” and “Seinfeld.”
Leoni’s character ofNora, how
ever, is getting an identity trans
plant, according to Entertainment
Weekly.
When the series was on ABC,
Nora was a klutzy photographer for
a trashy newspaper. When it shows
upon NBC in January, she will be a
writer for a slick entertainment
magazine.
“It was suggested that a pink el
ephant walking into a circus was not
as funny as a pink elephant walking
into a tea party,” Leoni said.
‘ER’star gets
miniseries roll
NEW YORK (AP) — There’s
no sugar-coating in the remake of
“In Cold Blood,” starring Anthony
Edwards of “ER” and Eric Roberts
in the murder saga by the late
TVuman Capote.
“We made it look exactly like
what would happen if you put a
shotgun two inches from someone’s
head and pulled the trigger,” said
director Jonathan Kaplan.
“But it was all shot in a way that
would be acceptable to network
television,” he told Entertainment
Weekly.
Edwards was drawn to the TV
miniseries, set for broadcast on CBS
later this month, by the difference
between his “ER” character as a
live-saving doctor and the “Cold
Blood” role of real-life killer Dick
Hickok.
“The spirit of it is just bizarrely
sick,” he said.
Roberts says there’s a risk in
playing murderer Perry Smith, the
character acted by Robert Blake in
the 1967 movie.
“They’ll say ‘There’s Eric Rob
erts playing another psycho.’ I’ve
got my neck out there to get it
chopped off,” he said.

it’s Arnold Schwarzenegger the su

Schwarzenegger had such a
good time making his latest movie,
“Jingle AH The Way,” around the
Twin Cities and the Mall of America
that the theater at the shopper’s
paradise was picked for Saturday’s
premiere of the holiday comedy.
“The mall brings something that
is extraordinary to the film; it brings
so much color to the movie,” the
actor gushed.
Schwarzenegger plays a father
who waits until Christmas Eve to
buy his son the perfect present. He
and another desperate father, played
by Sinbad, dash all over the Min
neapolis-St. Paul area looking for
the one toy their sons have to have.

A 25-year-old man protesting the
show died Thursday after setting him
self on fire in Madurai, 200 miles
southeast of Bangalore, Indian news
agencies reported.
Last month, protesters broke into
the showroom of one of the contest’s
corporate sponsors and smeared cow
dung and coal tar on its products.
Nearly 1,500 armed police officers'
have been guarding the Chinnaswamy
cricket stadium where the pageant is
being held and the Windson Manor
hotel where the participants are stay
ing.
Promoters say the pageant, which
has been held for the past four years in
Sun City, South Africa, would bring
world attention to Bangalore and boost
