i RACHEL HAUBEN plays the dominatrix and Don Nguyen plays her Chinese client in “Bondage,” a play written by David Henry Hwang. Hwang, the author of the renowned “M. Butterfly,” continues to explore the way ethnic identities shape our sexual andsocial selves. “Bondage” delves into these themes, stressing how different races, sexual orientations and religions mold who we are. The play demonstrates how people’s social roles are used to humiliate and degrade them, like the submissive role of Nguyen as the client versus the overpowering role of Hauben’s dominatrix.* “bondage” opened at the Blue Bam Theatre, 1258 S. 13th St in Omaha, last weekend, and will continue on Sunday through Tuesday.
