ASUN set to vote on i f By Tasha E. Kelter Staff Reporter After more than three weeks of de liberation, ASUN Will vote tonight on guidelines for the Outstanding Educa tor award. Academic Committee chairman Bronson Riley said “little quirky things” held up getting the guidelines completed and into legislation. Previously, Riley said, the Associa tion of the Students of the University of Nebraska had no clear, written guidelines for the award. “Right now we’ve got a founda tion,” Riley said. To get the Outstanding Educator congratulatory letter, Riley said, a can didate must receive 15 or more votes, as opposed to the one vote that quali fied them in previous years. The 15-vote requirement will nar row the field of recipients, Riley said. In previous years, there were “pages and pages” of candidates. Last weekend, ASUN president Eric Marintzer and Committee for Fees Allocation chairman John Weichmann attended the Big 12 Student Govern ment Conference in Columbia, Mo. The conference resulted in die for mation of the Big 12 Student Govern ment Alliance, an association devel oped to lobby government on “issues of mutual concern,” Marintzer said. He said the alliance would give many students the Opportunity to work together. “This is important because collec tively, we represent over 300,000 stu dents,” Marintzer said. Also during tonight’s 6:30 p.m. meeting, Homecoming chairwoman Andy Vuko will address the senate re garding the Homecoming week festivi ties. Vuko said she hoped to build ex citement and “make sure that everyone knows this is it.
