Nebraska is not exactly mountain biking country. Ken
BIsmII grew up in the Nebraska town of North Plat
te, where com fields stretch long and flat out to the
horizon, yet he finished eighth in the Iron Horse Clas
sic in Durango, Colorado. He followed that victory
with a 12th place finish in the King of the Rockies
race in Winter Park, Colorado.
It turns out the Great Plains have some rugged
terrain on which to train, after all. Because Ken has
managed to overcome this geographical “handicap” and
compete on a national level.

Chock out the Nebraska women’s soccer team as they compete for a national title in the inaugural
Big 12 Championship. Their home season ends with a shootout against Colorado on October 13
at 1 p.m. at the JUbhott Sports Complox, located on 70th St., 1 1/2 miles north of Comhusker
Highway. . . Celebrate Homecoming on Saturday, October 12 at 9:30 a.m. with the UNL men’s rugby
team at their annual alumni game at Whittier Field. Watch for free NIKE giveaways during breaks in the
action. . . Interested in strenuous physical activity on difficult terrain in unpredictable weather?

Hop foofadL Who says there’s no true college football national championship? There may not be one in
varsity football, but 19% will see the first college football national championships (flag football, that
is). The Nike Invitational Flag Football Championships (NIFFC) will be held Decem
ber 27th through the 31st and will be brought to you by Butterfinger and
played at the Nokia Sugar Bowl. No Moo

held in October and November (see schedule below).
Winners will receive an expensee-poM trip to the
National Championship in New Orleans, in late December. Which
