In his other visits to UNL, he’s taught classes such as law, agriculture commu nications, marketing and poetry, as well as the ater and Judaic studies. Different classes require different teaching routines, he said, and Raz admits he sometimes doesn’t always know where his lectures are head ing. Still, he manages to tie it all together. “In a law class, I did the trial scene from ‘The Merchant of Venice,”’ he said. “In a doctoral advanced marketing class, I threw down the challenge, ‘What is art? What is marketing?”’ t This semester, he’s mainly worked with Uni versity Foundations classes, teaching them about the Jewish culture. Kit Voorhees, coordinator for educational outreach for the College of Fine and Perform ing Arts, first saw Raz perform his one-man play “Father-Land” at the Lincoln Community Play house and was “blown a Why.” He was at UNL for two three-week stints last year, and is finish ing his second week here this semester. Raz per formed “Father-Land” at the Kimball Recital Hall last Sunday. “Ron (Bowlin) and Kit wanted me to be the representative for the Jewish culture (this semes ter),” Raz said. “I insisted that I was not going to be the spokesman for Jews. There are many people more qualified to talk about the Jewish religion.” Instead, Raz preferred to take a more light hearted approach. I said I’d be the resident Jewish clown.
