Two ASUN senators leave office ■ ■■ ■ ■!.■■.a-.i , . ,r - By Kasey Kebbeb Senior Reporter ASUN opened Wednesday night’s senate meeting with an announcement of two senators’ departures. Second Vice President Jason Bynum said senators Plato Chan and KJ Malone would no longer be part of the Association of the Students of the University of Nebraska. Chan resigned earlier in the day. Malone was removed from ASUN and would be contacted later, Bynum said. a Both senators had at least three unexcused absences, which is the ASUN limit. It was announced at last week’s meeting that two other senators who had two or more absences were in jeopardy. In other ASUN news, the Academic Committee announced that it had re structured the Outstanding Educator Award and would propose official leg islation at next week's senate meeting. Previously, students were given die opportunity to vote for their choice of an Outstanding Educator during the ASUN elections. All professors who received student votes were seat a cer tificate of congratulation. Problems arose recently when a professor in the chemistry department tried using his certificate to save his job. He had received only one student vote. Academic Committee Chair Bronson Riley said the system had been changed so that only educators who received 15 votes or more would be sent a certificate. ASUN also announced that Chan cellor James Moeser would attend next week’s senate meeting at the Nebraska East Union to give the senate a sneak peek of the official University of Ne braska-Lincoln alma mater.
