eyes.
And Wahlberg is surprisingly be
lievable in his portrayal of a jealous
and macho charmer. His hip-hop god
image from his days with Marky Mark
and the Funky Bunch has faded with
time. He does remove his shirt and flex
his pectoral muscles at every opportu
nity, though.
Foley’s choice to play Nicole was
excellent. Witherspoon has a young
face and an innocent quality that make
a father’s overprotectiveness under
standable.
The gloomy Seattle setting and the
remote location of the house adds to
the suspense of the film, which should
keep moviegoers on the edge of their
seats.
Viewers should set aside any ste
reotypes they may have about the art
ist formerly known as Marky Marie and
give this film a chance.

And the music* by Randy
Newman, is wonderfril. Newman,
fresh from “Toy Story,” has topped
himself in capturing the feel of the
film and the story in his music.
(“Nightmare Before Christmas”
fans take note — there is a cameo
you won’t want to miss!)
“James and the Giant Peach” is
simply wonderful. Although writ
ten for kids, the movie’s perfect for
