They started off with “The Way You do the Tilings You Do” and con tinued with songs such as “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Ball of Confusion,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.” The group continued working the crowd with indescribable finesse as they introduced songs and graciously thanked the crowd with a blend of suave romanticism and light comedy. Their rendition of the Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston chestnut “I Will Always Love You,” had every woman in the house swooning and every man jealous. And by the time they performed “Treat Her Like a Lady” and the obliga tory hit “My Girl,” the crowd was ecstatic beyond all belief. The Temptations wore their crowns as the “Emperors of Soul” proudly Tuesday night, and there wasn’t a per son in the Qrpheum Theater who could dispute their titles. Here’s hoping that they keep their crowns, their spirit and their talent for at least one return trip to Omaha. Volunteer.
