They also honored Rosie Jimenez, the first woman to die from an illegal abortion following the pas sage of the Hyde Amendment in . 1973. The amendment denied Medicaid funding for abortions. Erin Hansbrough, the rally’s or ganizer, said the group just wanted to be heard. “We wanted to make Students for Choice visible to the campus,” said Hansbrough, a freshman jour nalism and English major. “The pro-choice platform in general is being out-talked on campus.” Some students who walked past the rally picked up fliers and signed petitions for stopping violence at abortion clinics. As the rally drew to a close about 2 p.m., 66 students had signed the Students for Choice mailing list. That number will be added to the 35 people who already are members. Emily Poulsen, a senior envi ronmental studies major, handed out stickers, T-shirts and sweat shirts donated by Planned Parent hood. “We’re getting lots of support,” she said. “Lots of people are walk ing by asking for information about the organization and wearing the T-shirts. “People are finally taking an interest in the matter.” Tagi Adams, a senior women’s study major, said she was glad to see a few men in the group. “Everyone has an obligation to be politically active,” she said. “The oppression of women con cerns men, too.” Cable Continued from Page 1 fore the episode, Harrold’s show in cluded clips of adult movies. “It’s my workshop where I de velop characters,” Harrold has said. The new community access chan nel, scheduled to hit the airwaves Dec. 1, will be placed on Channel 8. After rescheduling the current chan nels, the new channel line-up will be: Channel 8’s WGN moved on Chan nel 14, the Channel 14 public access program on Channel 20.
