Despite his ef forts, Snyder said, he has noticed signs all week that his eighth-ranked |_| Wildcats are prc Snvdpr paring differently onyoer for No 2 Ne_ braska than for any other opponent this season. “I certainly think that everybody , walks a little faster and their heart rate is a little higher during the course of a week like this,” Snyder said. “I don’t think it’s any different than each and every year we have played (Nebraska).” Even though the Wildcats are 25 point underdogs, Snyder said the point spread wasn’t a motivation. Rather, the Wildcats were motivated because they want to beat Nebraska, a team they haven’t defeated in 26 years. But this year Kansas State is 6-0, its best start in 85 years. “I think we’re where we want to be at this particular point in time, other than maybe a few things we may have to clean up in regards to getting better in certain areas,” Snyder said. “But I think 6-0 is better than 5-1.” For the Wildcats to go 7-0, Snyder said Kansas State had to try different options on offense. In the Wildcats’ six wins, they have averaged 439.8 yards a game and have outseored their opponents by a combined score of 221-45. “We have to be as unpredictable as we can,” Snyder said. “To be un predictable, you can’t just put all your eggs in one basket.” Snyder said the Wildcats also must be unpredictable on defense. So far this season the Wildcat de fense has led the nation both in scoring, allowing only 7.5 points a game, and total defense. Kansas State is eighth in the nation in rushing defense. Snyder said he was optimistic about his team’s chances against the Huskers, mainly because of his sti fling defense and consistent offense. “I think if we play our best we have an excellent chance to beat them,” Snyder said. KSU Continued from Page 8 Offensive guard Steve Ott, who broke his foot against Kansas State last year, said the Huskers remem bered the quality of the Wildcat de fense. “They have pretty much the same defense as last year,” Ott said. “We’re going to have to step things up. We’ll prepare well for them. But they do deserve all the attention that they’re getting because we went against them last year, and we know that they’re a good defensive team.” Frazier said Saturday marked the beginning of a five-game character check for Nebraska, when it faces No. 8 Kansas State, No. 9 Colorado, No. 7 Kansas, Iowa State and No. 15 Oklahoma. “This is what we ask for — play the toughest team towards the end of the season,” Frazier said. “We play four teams that are ranked in the top 15. You can’t ask for anything better than that.” PRESENTS. . .
