Skynyrd can be expected to contrast its electric guitar riffs with acoustic material from its 1994 al bum, “Endangered Species.” “Endangered Species” was an all acoustic album which caught Skynyrd in a mellow living room-style jam. Old songs reappeared newly arranged for acoustic performance. Songs like “Saturday Night Special,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Am I Losin’” were among the reworked tunes. Since these songs are Skynyrd concert staples, it should be interesting to see how they perform them in Lincoln. And, of course, Skynyrd can be expected to play the obligatory “Free Bird,” a moving tribute to the mem bers of the band killed in a 1977 plane crash. Among those killed in the crash was original lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, brother of the current lead singer Johnny Van Zant. Johnny fills his brother’s impressive shoes with his YOU WORK WE PAY < The UNL Department of Housing has great summer employment opportunities! •Positions available for Renovation projects. •Guaranteed 40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities. •Flexible Schedules. •Experience in painting, carpentry, electrical, 4 and/or plumbing helpful. The rest ofthe lineup includes Gary Rossington on guitars, Ed King on guitars and mandolin, and Mike Estes completes the mandatory Skynyrd guitar trinity. Leon Wilkeson will be on bass, Billy Powell on piano, Owen Hale on drums, and Dale Krantz-Rossington and Debbie Davis will sing backup for the Skynyrd crew. Skynyrd will be playing at Pin ewood Bowl in Lincoln’s Pioneer Park at 7 p.m. Skynyrd will be joined by guests Tesla and Bloodline. These bands play rock ‘n’ roll with a bluesy heart and Southern swagger, displaying a clear Skynyrd influence. Tesla is touring in support ofW* new album, “Bust a Nut.” Tesla is known for its rock radio hits, “Love Song,” “Little Susie” and “Signs.” “Signs” was a big hit from an album that found Tesla in an all-acoustic mode, reworking old songs and play ing favorites much like Skynyrd’s “Endangered Species.” Bloodline isablues-rock band play ing in support of its self-titled debut album. Bloodline can be expected to play Delta-inspired tunes like “Stone Cold Hearted,” “Trouble is My Busi ness,” and a song likely to appeal to Skynyrd: “Dixie Peach.” Photo courtesy of Capricorn Records Lynyrd Skynyrd (pictured above) will be in concert tonight at Pinewood Bowl, along with Tesla and Bloodline. Newvid Continued from Page 7 of Raul Julia. That poor man. What did he do to deserve this? Based on the popular video game, “Street Fighter” stars Jean Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile, the leader of a crack team of commandos going after mega-ma niac Bison (Julia). Almost all the Street Fighter characters show up here, and the film is a total cheese ball. Kids will love the film, but even Van Damme fans will start choking on their own vomit when they watch it. Julia’s costume looks like an armchair melted on him. Pass on this one. “Heavy Metal” (R)—This one was released in the beginning of June, and is a major coup for video collectors and animation fans ev erywhere. Why? Because the movie came out over a decade ago and has just this month come out on video! Following story lines from the “Heavy Metal” magazines, the movie follows how a green orb affects the lives of various charac ters. Don’t let theanimation fool you; the huge breasts and gallons of blood abound in this flick. If you only rent one movie, rent this movie.
