This year’s Orange Bowl meant a great deal to every Nebraskan, Kerrey said, wearing a Nebraska hat. “I have never been moved so much by an athletic event as this January,” he said. “We will never be able to repay Coach Tom Osborne and the entire team.” Nebraska native Patricia Fosbrook, who took the day off work in Mary land, came to get a glimpse of the Huskers for herself. She took pictures of players and had team members autograph a foot ball. The first, and biggest, signature on the ball was from her favorite Husker — Tom Osborne. “He’s a wonderful man,” Fosbrook said. “I have the utmost respect and regard for him.” Rep. Doug Bereuter said he would like the team to get used to coming to Washington. “We have so much pride in our Nebraska ComhuskersBereuter said. “We’d like to make this an annual affair.” After the hourlong reception, the team toured Capitol Hill before re turning to Lincoln Monday night. three hours from Philadelphia to Washington, hoping to get a glimpse of Osborne and the team. After wait ing another two hours, their trip proved worthwhile as the team emerged from the White House grounds. The Gevos, who were students at the University of Nebraska when the Huskers won their 1971 national championship, grew up near Ashland. Frazier had exams Monday, Anderson said, which prevented him from meeting with President Clinton.
