    Fight breaks out in stands
From Staff Reports
As Oklahoma State University
was beating the Comhusker men’s
basketball team on the court
Wednesday night, two fans were
beating each other.
Jason Lovejoy, 20, and Aaron
Freeman, 18, were thrown out of
the Devaney Sports Center after a
fighf broke out between them, Sgt.
Bill Manning of the University
Police Department said.
Manning said the fight broke
out because one person was stand
ing in front of the other. Manning
said one shoved the other, and “the
fight was on.” *
Both Lovejoy and Freeman were
cited for third-degree assault, mu
tual combatants, Manning said.
No other fans were hurt during
the fight, and the two men left
without incident, Manning said.

textbook. Gruhl was responsible for
writing five chapters in each version.
He also edited the books and selected
photos and cartoons.
Above all, Gruhl said, he is a
teacher before a political scientist. He
said he spent most of his time teach
i—
ing, and felt fortunate that UNL al
lowed him the freedom to do that.
Painfully shy before he began teach
ing, Gruhl said he still felt that h<
might not be the most exciting lec
turer on campus.
But, he said, he doesn’t strive foi
that. Instead, he said, he tries to trea
all his students as individuals am
give them the most complete and ac
curate information he can.
CFA rejects health center request
By Chad Lorenz
Staff Reporter
The Committee for Fees Alloca
tion denied the University Health
Center’s request for a 2.23 percent
budget increase Thursday night.
Instead, the committee voted to
recommend a .5 percent increase to
pay for higher telecommunication
costs.
The health
center’s request
would have paid
for an additional
full-time nurse
and part-time
physical thera
pist.
Members of
: CFA’s health center subcommittee
[ said the center could streamline op
- erations to cover its requested in
creases.
The subcommittee suggested rais
ing revenue sources anddecreasing
funding for outreach programs such
as the health aide program, peer alco
hol educators and peer sexuality edu
cators*
The subcommittee also recom
mended that the health center cease
keeping an orderly on duty between
11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
“At some time you have to work
through and decide which things are
more important than others,” greek
representative Shelley Kathol said.
Brian Buescher, CFA residence
hall representative, said it was unfair
to charge off-campus students for
benefits utilized by students living in
residence halls or Greek houses.
“For the students who are not us
ing the services as much, I think it’s
only fair to give them a break,” he
said.
CFA voted in favor of the .5 per
cent increase for funding the upgrade
and development of the
telecommunications systems at the
health center. The $15,500 increase
will be needed, members said, be
cause the rewiring of phones and data
connections will have to be done even
tually.
CFA also heard director Daryl
Swanson’s budget request for the
Nebraska Unions.
Swanson requested a 2.55 percent
budget increase from student fees,
which would grant an additional
$44,233 to the unions’ budget.
Swanson said he wanted to use the
increased funds to improve condi
tions for union employees.
He said he also wanted to imple
ment a comprehensive training pro
gram to improve employee skills and
performance levels.
The increase would also add fund
ing to the Women’s Center.
