State and No. 15 Kansas.
“We know that we’re beating our
selves,” Aarden said. “We have a lot
of potential, and once we get in a
groove, we’re going to surprise a lot
of people.”
Nebraska lost at Oklahoma and
Oklahoma State last weekend.
Aarden .knows she needs some
improvement, and is most concerned
with her free-throw shooting.
The junior from Hudson, Wis., is
shooting only 47.2 percent from the
line.
Aarden leads the team with 108
free-throw attempts, which can be
attributed to being double- and triple
teamed because of her height advan
tage.
“It’s no fun,” Aarden said. “Some
times it works really nice because if
they triple me, then there are guards
open who can hit the 3-pointers.”
And Aarden should be able to take
advantage during the conference sea
son with only three other players in
the Big Eight as tall as her.
“If you have two girls that can’t
defend you, then you can take it at
them,” she said.

of them starters — from last year,
Nee said Nebraska’s youth had been
obvious in the first half of the season.
“1 just feel our basketball team can
get better,” Nee said. “We’ve got
young players, and I don’t think all of
them are playing at their best.”
Even after the Huskers scorched
Kansas State 78-56 Thursday for their
first conference victory, some play
ers didn’t think the win was com
plete.
“We’ve got a lot more potential
than we’re showing,” Wald said. “I
think we played our best six minutes
of ball against Appalachian State
(Dec. 31) when we had to. (Thursday
night) we showed signs of it, like we
have all year, but we haven’t put it all
together.”
