Newvid Continued from Page 9 PICK-OF-THE-WEEK — After an entire evening of playing pitch, why not try something a bit more entertaining? Try “Young Sherlock Holmes." It's a new look at an old story; Holmes meets his faithful companion Watson as teenagers in a private school. Games are still afoot, however. Local businessmen are mysteriously committing suicide after getting doses of 18th-century LSD. Will Holmes solve the mystery? Find out! The film was nominated for, but didn’t win, an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for a scene where (as part of a hallucination) a knight comes out ofa stained glass window. The scene is considered by some to be the “granddaddy” of computer-aided special effects. ‘ Check it out. Limpopo Continued from Page 9 written by Fedorko. “It’s about a girl who complains her husband is a sailor who has one foot on the land and one foot out in the sea. She prom ises she is going to do something (to get even),” Bemov laughed. Limpopo is the only band in the world to perform a Spanish medley of “La Bamba” and “Twist and Shout,” dubbing it a “Spe Show: Limpopo At: UNL Culture Center Time: 7:30 tonight Tickets: $5, $3 for UNL students cial Russian Folk Song.” The “Special Russian Folk Song” also is the only song on the album sung in English or Spanish. The rest are sung in Russian. “You don’t have to understand Russian,” he said. “It’s not really important what you play, but how you play,” Bemov said. Limpopo’s playing translates into hu morous songs that are punctuated by ankle bells, hot accordian licks, Cossack kicks and many exclamations of “Hey!” “Yusov sings silly love songs to the girls and serenades them,” Bemov said. “The girls love it and instantly fall into love with him.” Tickets to see Limpopo are $5 for the general public and $3 for UNL students, and can be purchased at the door. There’s nothing else like Limpopo. -PeOple Bandleader Marsalis to leave Tonight Show’ LOS ANGELES (AP)—“Tonight Show” bandleader Branford Marsalis is taking five. The sax man is taking a leave from the show early next year, but said it wasn’t a sign of unhappiness with the show or host Jay Leno. Rather, Marsalis wants more time to tour and spend with his 8-year-old son, spokes woman Annie O’Hayan said Wednesday. Bass player Kevin Eubanks, who has filled in for Marsalis before, will be bandleader during the indefinite leave. Marsalis has conducted the NBC Orches tra for nearly three years. Critics have said Marsalis seemed uneasy playing comic foil for Leno. BUY IT. SELL IT. FIND IT. CLASSIFIED. _472-2588_ rfjfio "■"] I M*" offanyNeutnogena I product in the store. ; ' I Exp.
