COLUMBIA, Mo. — Now that Nebraska
has defeated Missouri, the Cornhuskcrs finally
are putting their full attention toward the game
fans have been looking forward to all season
long.
Colorado vs. Nebraska.
The Huskcrs and Buffaloes both will come
into Saturday morning's nationally televised
contest undefeated. Nebraska and Colorado
both have wins over Missouri, and most Tiger
players had a definite opinion about which
team would be victorious this Saturday.
Colorado.
Sophomore wide receiver Rahsctnu Jenkins,
who caught a game-high eight passes, said
Colorado would have the edge this Saturday.
“I know that my opinion doesn’t normally
count,” Jenkins said, “but I’d put my money
on Colorado. They got some athletes. Thai's
going to be a good game.
“I don't care who wins, but I think Colo
rado is a little better.”
Freshman tailback Brock Olivo, who ran
for 37 yards against the Huskcrs, said that
Colorado just had too many weapons for the
Huskcrs to contain.
“They have (Michael) Westbrook at wide
receiver.” Olivo said, “and they got Rashaan
Salaam.”
Although Nebraska is the No. 2 team in the
nation. Tiger strong safety Andre White wasn’t
so sure the Huskcrs deserved that ranking.
Nebraska was not as superior to Missouri
as the 42-7 final score indicated, he said.
“They're the No. 2 team in the country.” he
said, “but they're not physically or latently wise
much better than this Missouri football team.”
But White's opinion on the showdown in
Lincoln next week was a split decision.
“They’re two solid football teams,” he said.
“I think Colorado’s offense is more powerful,
but I think Nebraska’s defense is more power
ful.”
However, Missouri junior guard Steve Mar
tin thought the Huskcrs’ offensive control con
tributed to their defensive success.
“Their defense is their offense on the field,”
he said. “If they keep their offense on the field,
then the other team’s offense is off the field
and can’t score.
“They found a couple of plays that would
work, and once they found those plays, they
would just keep on running them at you."
Martin said he still thought Colorado would
be victorious next week.
“Colorado doesn’t rely on the run as much,”
he said. “They have a great running game, but

they also have a great passing game.”
Missouri coach Larry Smith had enough
problems of his own to worry about the
matchup that could determine the Big Eight
championship.
“I'm not going to get into any comparisons.”
Smith said. “They're both fine teams; it will
be a great game"
Rather Smith was concentrating more on
his team's next game at Iowa State.
t)
Smith could be heard after the game throw
ing a verbal assault on his players after Ne
braska defeated the Tigers for the 16th straight
time.
“I'm angry and disappointed.” Smith said,
“and they better be angry and disappointed too.
“I don't like losing. I hale losing, and I'm
not going to get used to losing, and I'm not
going to let them get used to losing.”
