Stewart Continued from Page 10 time.” The 6-foot-1, 215-pound captain from Chicago isn’t talking much about his chances for All-American status and the Butkus Award either. “Nothing is set in stone, and you just have to go out and prove it every week.” he said. “Right now, nobody is an All American, and all I can do is go out and try to help the Huskers win ballgamcs. I’d like to get it (All-American), but I’m not going to worry about it. “All we really have control over as a team is going out and winning games and trying to win the Big Eight cham pionship. If Nebraska docs well and somebody happens to recognize me and vote me as an All-American, I’ll be thrilled.” Even though Stewart doesn’t want to forecast what he or the defense could accomplish, he knows a few things that must be achieved in his last year as a Huskcr. “I haven’t won a bowl since I’ve been here, and I’d like to do that,” he said. ‘‘We feel we can win every game this year, and we’re going into the season with that attitude. Personally, it’s also a very important year, because I’d like to play at the next level. “It’s important for me to do well this year, and that starts by doing well each game and helping this team win its ballgamcs.
