A genius figured it out—
HP built it in.
•The HP 48G has built-in
equations, functions,
and menus to guide you
through complex
calculations.
• Access over 300 built-in equations.
• Push a button, choose from a pull
down menu, and fill in the blanks.
Entering data is that easy.
• View 3-D graphs.
• Perform algebra and calculus
operations on equations before
entering values.
• Enter and see equations like they
appear on paper.
• Work with different units of measure.
The HP 48G will convert them for you.
So, enter inches, centimeters, yards, and
feet, together in one equation — it’ll
convert them.
• You’ll quickly learn to
operate it!
Pull-down menus guide you through
problem-solving smoothly and quickly.
Push a button, select an entry from the

Captains
Continued from Page 7
captains would have to be a major factor
in the team’s success.
The two players became interested
in the Nebraska program for different
reasons.
Franck found out about the Huskcr
program after she contacted a scholar
ship assistance program in Canada.
“They knew John from back home,
and he showed interest when they talked
to him,” Franck said.
> Ratliffs interest in Nebraska came
not only because she was from Omaha
but also because of Nebraska’s well
known athletic department.
She contacted Walker about trans
ferring. Walker said he was thrilled to
have her for the Huskcrs’ inaugural
season.
The Huskcrs’ first season will be a
challenge because oflack ofexperience,
and they will play a difficult schedule as
well. Walker said.
Walker said teams like Michigan,
Stanford, Arizona, Texas Tech and
Texas would provide his team with
much-needed experience right from the
start.
“We need to have a tough schedule,
because when you play easy teams you
don’t learn anything.”
Ratliff and Franck don’t have much
time to prepare their teammates before
the season kicks off.
Nebraska has an exhibition game
against Bellevue College on Aug. 30,
and the team’s season officially opens
when they play host to Creighton on
Sept. 6.
Injuries pose
risk to Huskers
From Staff Reports
The Nebraska football team lost its
backup spl i t end Tuesday when Brendan
Holbein sprained his ankleduringprac
ticc.
“He’s been playing very well,”
Comhusker coach Tom Osborne said.
“We were counting on him to play a fair
amount in the game.”
“He didn’t practice yesterday.”
Osborne said, “I’d say it is kind of touch
and go with him.”
But senior linebacker Ed Stewart
returned to practice after suffering from
a kidney problem.
Osborne said the Kickoff Classic
would be risky for his team as far as
injuries go. The game will provideextra
exposure for the Huskers, which could
be dangerous because of the possibility
of more injuries and losing the game.
“Anytime you play, you run that
risk,” Osborne said.
NOTE:
West Virginia coach Don Nchlcn
will not say who will start at quarter
back for the Mountaineers. Eric Boykin
andChad Johnston were contending for
the job. “I know who’s starting, but I’m
not saying,” Nehlen said. “It would be
in the headlines, and the other guy
would feel like a piece of crap.”
