    Signs of campus life
Jeffrey Robb/DN
Jay Noble, a Lincoln resident and 1987 University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate, nibbles on
a cookie Wednesday at Broyhill Fountain. More and more people are returning to campus, and
Noble said that was why he was there. “It’s the beginning of the school year,” he said. “You
can come by and see all the freshman.”
System answers financial aid questions
By Charles Isom _

University students now can have
their financial aid questions answered
by a machine.
The Office of Scholarships and
Financial Aid installed a new phone
system July 21, said Geri L. Larsen,
financial aid specialist.
The new system can assist 40 call
ers at once. The office could only help
three people at the same time before.
The phone system works similarly
to NRoll, UNL’s automated enroll
ment system, Larsen said. Students
dial the financial aid number where
they are given a menu to select desired
information. As with NRoll, they can
call 24 hours a day.
Unlike NRoll, if students call be
tween 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m., they can
ask a stall member questions. That
allows special problems to receive
special attention, Larsen said.
The new system is open to the
public. Nopersonal identification num
ber is needed to access the system.
Students have to dial 472-2030 to
access the main menu.
