Textile art gallery opens From Staff Reports A new textiles, clothing and design gallery now fills the second floor of the Home Economics Building on East Campus. The gallery, yet to be named, offi cially opened yesterday with a mas ter’s exhibition by University of Ne braska-Lincoln graduate student Ruth Stephens. Rita Kean, chair of the Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design, said the gallery would be beneficial to UN L students as well as to the greater Ne braska community. She said the gal lery would give students and the com munity the chance to view textile or fiber art. The gallery would be used to show case exhibits by students, faculty, 4-H youth and visiting artists, Kean said, as well as the department’s historic costume collection. The gallery was funded by a “quan tum leap” grant—acompctilivc grant given to departments within the Col lege of Human Resources and Family Sciences by its dean, Kean said. The gallery has been in the plan ning stages since last May. Physical renovation has been taking place dur ing the past three weeks. The gallery will be open to visitors d a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Election violations void RHA results From Staff Reports Violations in Residence Hall Association elections have forced the Election Commission to nullify the results. After hearings which identified several election violations, the Elec tion Commission decided it could not certify the results to decide the RHA president and vice president. A new election is scheduled for Thursday. Polls will be open from X a.m. to 8 p.m. in the food service buildings at each of the complexes. Runoffs for Cathcr/Pound secre tary and treasurer also will be de cided in Thursday’s election.
