Griescn said about 20 individual members involved in the Knoll inci dent would go before the student faculty judicial board early next se mester. Spaniersaid he supported the sanc tions, which combined punishment with education. “We are, first and foremost, an educational institution,” he said,“and thus our approach to violations of our disciplinary code has historically been educational.” Griescn said he favored the board’s decision, which would rebuild the chapter with a core group of members while their memory of Knoll’s acci dent was fresh. The decision recognizes that the fraternity is not “rotten to the core.” "I don’t want to damn everybody because of one incident,” he said. Walt Stephenson, president of Fiji’s house corporation board, agreed it would have been unfair to suspend the chapter and punish young members who had nothing to do with the inci dent. Instead, Griesen said, the sanc tions could rebuild Fiji into a model fraternity. With the alumni w atchingovcr the house, Stephenson said, goals of re building the chapter would be suc cessful. Installation to close center s locker room From Staff Reports The Office of Campus Recreation will install tile flooring in the men’s and women’s locker rooms, campus recreation center officials said. The installation in the women’s locker room will begin Dec. 20 and is expected to be completed by Jan. 17. The women’s locker room will be closed during the entire construction. No access into the locker room will be allowed during its renovation. Personal belongings should be cleared from the women’s locker room by 6 p.m. on Sunday, officals said. The visitor’s locker room will be open for use during the installation. The locker room provides a shower and a limited number of day-use lock ers. Recreation Center officials chose the semester break for the tile instal lation because it would affect fewer students than during the fall or spring semesters.
