Up all night New Year’s celebrations in capital city include dinners, drinks, dancing galore By Derek Samson Staff Reporter If you’re looking to send 1993 out with a bang and you can’t find any way to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Lincoln, you’re just not looking very hard. From dinner to the midnight cel ebration, an entire evening on the town is available at Lincoln bars, motels and restaurants. To start the night off with dinner, many restaurants offer a New Year’s Eve special, Kerrey’s Restaurant & Lounge, 201 Sun Valley Blvd, among them. Another popular pre-party restau rant is Lazio’s Brewery & Grill at 710 P St. However, it will only be offering its regular menu. It gets very busy around here.” Holiday Inn offers four different packages for the night, ranging in price from $29.95 to $87.95. For its guests’ convenience the motel offers a 6 p.m. check-out time on New Years Day. “It is a lot less of a hassle for most people,” Bennett said. “There is less of a clean-up and people don’t have to worry about being out on the roads.” Best Western is another motel with a full agenda set for the holiday. Ron Towers, motel manager, said the rooms were already going fast. “We already have a couple floors booked up,” he said. “We are sold-out every year, and I know this year will be the same story.” Best Western offers a dinner pack age consisting of prime rib and lob ster, two live bands, a room for two and plenty of other items. Like the Holiday Inn, the costs vary according to what package is chosen, but Tow ers said the average cost was $ 130. Connie Jelsma, manager of the Royal Grove Nite Club, 340 W. Comhusker Highway, also will have her hands full toward the end of De cember. Jelsma said Royal Grove’s festivi ties include free party favors at the door, live music from Tight Fit and the traditional balloon drop when the clock strikes midnight.
