Kan. — Calvin Jones must feel a little empty now, knowing that he’ll never again get to run wild on the turf of Kansas’ Me morial Stadium. Jones rushed 29 times for 195 yards in Nebraska’s 21-20 win over Kan sas Saturday. The outing was his his best since he totaled 294 yards as a freshman against Kansas in Lawrence. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior credited the rest of his team for his success. “My effort was there but... I have to give a lot of credit to my blockers,’’ Jones said. “Both the linemen blocked great and the receivers downfield. The fullbacks also did a great job.” Jones, who was held out of the majority of last week’s practices with a Hu virus, has also been hampered throughout the season with a knee injury he suffered in Nebraska’s open er. “In the first half, I felt myself getting fatigued rather quickly,” Jones said. “I felt a lot better in the second half but I did seem to get fatigued easily from the virus.” But with 10 minutes left in the game, Jones overcame the virus when he broke free for 51 yards to Kansas’ X yard line. The run set up a Tommie Fra/ier-to-Trumanc Bell touchdown that gave Nebraska a 21-14 advan lage. “That was an isolation play that got rolling behind a lot of great block ing,” Jones said. “Alter that play.
