sellout string continues.
“Our objective is to get the
stadium sold out in advance,”

Osborne said that since the
athletic department was self
supporting, selling out the sta

athletic department, because if
we weren’t selling out the sta
dium, it would be a massive
problem, since we don ’ t receive

Frazier comes to aid of Benes home

Nebraska quarterback Tommie
Frazier had a new hobby thrust upon
him last month: firefighting.
And the thankful recipient of
Frazier’s newfound talents was Keith
Benes, president of the Association of
Students of the University of Ne
braska.
The fiberglass roof of the patio at
Benes’ home at 2800 N. 40th St.
caught on fire after an electrical short
from a refrigerator ignited it
Frazier was among a threesome
who spotted the flames, including fel
low Comhusker football player Barron
Miles, who jumped a security fence to
Save the main portion of the house
from catching fire.
The threesome reportedly grabbed,
a couple of garden hoses to help con
tain the flames until the fire depart
ment arrived on the scene.
Benes said the trio saved the Benes
home from catastrophe.
“I love telling the story that
Tommie Frazier saved my house,”
Benes said. “It destroyed the roof
above the patio and there was smoke
damage in the garage, but our neigh
bors said they prevented thousands of
dollars worth of damage.”
Benes said the estimated repair
costs of the fire are between $3,000
$4,000.
Frazier, the sophomore football
standout who won Big Eight Offen
sive Freshman-of-the-Year honors last
season in helping Nebraska win the
Big Eight title, said coming to the aid
of Benes’ home was natural for him.
“It was just something that was
instinct,” Frazier said. “If it wasn’t for
us, the whole house probably would
have caught on fire."
Frazier said he likes to help people
whenever possible.
“If something needs to be done and
somebody needs help, you should try
your best to help them,” he said.
Benes said every community needs
individuals like the firefighting three
some.
“It showed a lot of character on
their part,” he said. “I think we* re well
represented by individuals like that.”
