Students crave fast food By Nikelle Kudrna Sjgff Reporteri Finding a quality meal for Uni versity of Ncbraska-Lincoln stu dents isn’t an adventure — it’s a job. Whether it’s between classes, at lunchtime or Sunday night at a residence hall, fast food is every where at UNL. It forces its way into the cars, bedrooms and classes of students as they search for food at a good price. The search can be perilous, how ever, so here is a guide to help you on your way: Amigos: A favorite for Mexi can food, this restaurant offers a condiment selection unparalleled in Lincoln. Mild and hot sauce, ranch dressing, hot nacho cheese and fresh salsa are offered. Mcxifrics — like taler tots — arc terrific with ranch dip. i aco Bell: A favorite for Mexi can meals, with good tasting food and low prices. The soft taco su preme is highly recommended. Popeye’s: Meals at Popeye’s consist of meaty pieces of chicken with a butter-soaked biscuit and a choice of side dishes. Whether one decides on the seasoned fries, mashed potatoes or red beans and rice, it’s a delicious meal at a rea sonable price. Unfortunately, Popeye’s has one drawback — lo cation. The two outlets in Lincoln arc located on West O St. and 4Hth and Vine streets —- both a long walk for students without a car. Imperial Palace Express: Con veniently located in the Nebraska Union, the Imperial Palace Express offers Chinese food fast. The cui sine is good, but more expensive than other food offered in the union. Golden Wok: This restaurant offers Chinese and V ieinanicscdin ing. u also ranks nigh lor conve nience—located al27th and Y, it’s only about a mile from campus. The Golden Wok also features a drive thru for motorists and a deliv ery service in the evenings. DaVinci’s: The pizza is spicy with the right balance of sauce and toppings. Sandwiches are also of fend, and anything on the menu can be ordered with confidence. Little King: Although Little King offers delicious sandwiches, their prices are a little steep. Still, Little King offers some combina tions not found in any other restau rant in Lincoln, and they do accept checks on deliveries. Subway: For sandwiches, Sub way gi ves a good deal for the money. Although this restaurant doesn’t deliver, it is located close to cam pus,at 13lh and P streets, and makes a good pre-movie pit slop. Runxa: Runza offers high qual ity, but you pay for it. This can pose a problem when one is trying to buy a meal with ihcchangc found in the cushions of the couch. Still, Runza oilers hamburgers lhat taslc like home cooking. Plump Tomato Pi/.za Co.: Lo cated in the Reunion, the Plump Tomato Pizza Co. features cheese rolls and pizza by the slice. The pizza is passable, but heavy on the sauce. Vending machines: MoslUNL students will find themselves at a point in the ir acadcm ic career when they wilt ha vc back-to-back classes at lunchtime. Taking into account the lime it takes to walk between * buildings, students arc usually left with two minutes and one choice — the vending machines. Judging by selection and atmo sphere, the areas on the main floors of Oldlalhcr and Hcnzlik Halls are the best choices. In addition to the usual candy, they offer cof fee, change machines, microwaves and several tables and chairs for slops between classes.
