Berry covered various subject matters in her 1 1/2 hour lecture, including drug abuse, which she called an “attempt to solve other problems.” She also explained that it was ac ceptable to be an individual in today’s society. “It’s OK to be different,” she said. Berry used an impressive array of anecdotes to exercise her points and her ideas aboulcrcalivity and society. She even handed out grades. She gave the general public a grade of C and the American government a C- for “average” creativity. “We’ vc begged, borrowed and sto - We’ve begged, borrowed and stolen from everybody. —Berry talk show host -99 ~ lcn from everybody,” she said. Berry talked aboul society’s faults and told die audience that solving the problem was the job of each indi vidual, “starling with yourself.” Berry, who has lived a life free of drugs and alcohol, said she believed her lifestyle pushed her to explore other options. She encouraged others to do the same. - ■ Berry said many people use and abuse drugs, then blame the media for their problems. Those people, she said, think the media advocates the abuse because they show stars doing it. Berry said she was very serious about enjoying 1 i fc and i n form i ng olh - crs. She said she wanted to hclpothcrs tap into their own creativity and spirit.
