After winning the first game of a doubleheader 9-7 on Friday, the Cornhuskers dropped Friday's nightcap 13-2 and lost a single game Saturday 11-5. Nebraska’s record dropped to 11 11 on the season. The offensive star for Nebraska in the scries was freshman left fielder Darin Erstad, who homered in each game and collected six RBIs on the weekend. Erstad said he felt relaxed, which helped his offensive performance. “I don’t really know what it was,” he said. “1 changed my stroke a little bit after the Creighton scries, and it felt a lot like it did in high school. I was pretty comfortable at the plate.” In the first game, Nebraska freshman pitcher Alvie Shepherd got the win, scattering seven hits over five innings of work. Troy Brohawn, who started the game for Nebraska, left the game in the third inning after being hit over the eye by a line drive. Nebraska starter Brian Martin was roughed up in the second game, giving up 10 runs in five innings. Oklahoma State jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings and cruised to the win. In Saturday's finale, Oklahoma State scored nine runs in the first four innings.
