Filins explore Indian tribes A video clip often shown on PBS says, “Some of our best programs are the ones you never see on television.” You don’t have to look beyond this campus to see one of the ways this claim rings true. The Native American Public Broadcasting Consortium, with of fices in the Telecommunications Building, for years has actively aided Native Americans seeking education, training and employment in the fields of broadcasting and communications. The NAPBC also has a library that houses a vast collection of films and videos on Native American history, culture and contemporary issues. Currently the NAPBC is present ing a retrospective of films at the Mary Riepma Ross Film Theater. All of these screenings are free and open to the public. This week’s films, “Journey to the Sky” and “Live and Remember,” ex plore the folk tales of the Coushatta Indians of Alabama and the storytelling and culture of the Lakota Sioux, respectively. / The retrospective continues dur ing spring break as well. Showing on March 25-27 are “Menominee” and “Minorities in Agriculture: The Winnebago.” These films delve into social, economic and political prob lems currently facing Native Ameri cans. These films are shown together on Thursdays at noon, Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. — Calvin Clinchard Diara of a Madman ':M\ f,' ■' 2 Appliances For Sale Ken more alMn-one agartmeffljhwJ Washer A dryer. 220 3 Bicycles For Sale 6 Computers For Sale_ Mac Plus for sale.
