Recruits Continued from Page 13 for a signed letter from the player’s mother. Osborne said he was pleased with the quality of recruiting that was ex hibited by coaches of all schools this year. “There isn’t much cheating going on in recruiting anymore,” he said. “It’s not pretty, but it’s not dishon est.” All of Nebraska’s recruits, he said, were recruited honestly. “These guys are probably pretty valuable because they were recruited the right way,” he said. And Osborne said the reputation of Nebraska football across the country was still strong. “I think the perception nationally of Nebraska football is maybe better than it is locally,” he said. Osborne said he was unable to pick out the most valuable player of the class until he has seen them play. “I think they are all big catches,” he said. “We wouldn’t have recruited them if they weren’t.” I-1 Aloha Tanning Salon Days Till Spring Break $2 per session (minimum 5) Are you ready for Spring Break? Oklahoma native Josh Hcskew is the most recent athlete to give his verbal commitment to the Comhuskers. Heskew, a nose guard and light end from Yukon, Okla., is the fourth Oklahoma native in two years to accept a scholarship from Nebraska. Dave Gillespie, tl)e football program’s on-campus recruiting co ordinator, said he was uncertain why the Comhusker recruiters have been successful attracting Oklahoma ath letes lately. Recruiting in an area, he said, goes in cycles. Once a team starts signing players from an area, the success usually continues for a few years. » And the Huskcr-Sooner rivalry can be either beast or blessing, he said. “I’m sure our success has some thing to do with the rivalry,” he said. “People in Oklahoma know about Nebraska and the Nebraska program. “That doesn’t hurt us, but often times it doesn ’ t help either, especially if the recruit is a pro-Oklahoma per son.” Joining Heskew on the Huskers’ list of oral commitments is Ramone Worthy of Camden, N.J., who said he planned to accept a scholarship from Nebraska this weekend. Worthy, who is a distant cousin of former Husker I-back and 1983 Hcisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier, is the 20th oral commitment the Husk ers have received. And Gillespie said 20 was the magic lumber. . The remaining five scholarships, Gillespie said, would be saved for walk-on athletes. “Right now we don’t anticipate giving many, if any, more scholar ships,” he said. “We’re not out there trying to dig up anybody else.” But Gillespie said recruiters are continuing to concentrate on the ath letes who have said they will attend Nebraska next fall. Yedsena Continued from Page 13 She finished the game with 13 points, a career-high 12 assists and five rebounds. “I love to play with her,” Jennings said. “She’s the most un selfish player I’ve ever played with in my life.” Yedsena said she did not need to be in the spotlight, as long as she was helping her team win. “The fact that we’re winning is enough for me,” Yedsena said. “I don’t care who gets the glory for it.” But Yedsena is making her mark in Husker history, too. She is one of Nebraska’s top 20 all-time scorers with 727 points, fifth in career three point goals, fQurth in steals and the career leader in assists with 477. ”1 know what Coach Beck wants from me,” Yedsena said. “A lot of people look for me to set them up, and it’s my job to do that.” Although the Huskers will lose Jennings next season, Ycdsena said she could continue to rack up the assists. “Karen is such a great player.. . but with Nafecsah (Brown) scor ing like she is and Kate (Galligan) coming back, we should be fine,” Yedsena said. But Ycdsena said she wasn’t worrying about personal records. The only Big Eight record Yedsena was thinking about is 5-2, the Husk ers’ record following the first half of the conference schedule. Nebraska will travel to Okla- - homa and Oklahoma State this weekend to kick off the second half. “This weekend is a big weekend for us,” Yedsena said. “We don’t care about all that other stuff, we think we can still do it.” FOR SALE £ RSyPcowtaQ 2 Appliance* 72 R^a*"0 3 Bi cycle* 74 Tanning i £*** 75 Tattooing 5 Ctotmng 76 Travel 7 Jewelry 80 Typing * Resumes 6 Computers _ 8 Furniture NOTICFS 9 Garage 5nhw 10 M«o>or Sale ' 12 Musical Instruments IJ5 r 13 Olio.
