Oklahoma State was to control Reeves
inside the paint.
“Bryant Reeves is a factor — he’s
probably one of the most improved
big men in the country,” Nee said.
“He’s a wide body, he’s fundamen
tally sound and they have really fo
cused on him.”
Another problem for the Huskers
could be Gallagher-Iba Arena. De
spite holding only 6,381 fans at ca
pacity, the facility is considered to be
one of the most difficult places to
compete in the country.
Nebraska forward Bruce Chubick
said playing in Stillwater could be
intimidating.
“It’s one of the toughest to play in
— mainly because the crowd’s right
on top of you,” Chubick said. “They
could literally spit on you anywnerc
you arc on the court, and I’m not so
sure they haven’t tried.”
The Huskers dropped to 11-4 over
all after a defeat in their conference
opener last night at Oklahoma.
Nee said he’d consider Nebraska’s
trip to the Sooner Stale a success if
they could leave Stillwater with a
victory.
“A split would be just super,” he
said. “I f we played .500 ball in the B ig
Eight on the road, we’d be in fat city.”
But after Oklahoma State’s 75-62
loss in its conference home opener
against Kansas State last weekend,
Nee said his team had to be ready for
the Cowboys.
“I know they’re going to be com
mitted and very focused,” Nee said. “I
can’t imagine them thinking about
losing two in a row at home.”

“Everybody wrestled well,”
Neumann said. “Wrestling is so much
mental, and right now we’re better
than wc were at Las Vegas (Invita
tional).”
Nebraska will have a chance for
redemption against the Cyclones at
the National Duals in the second round,
Neumann said.
“It should be a lot belter match,” he
said. “Both teams should wrestle bet
ter.”

“(Kansas and Kansas State) will
most likely focus on Jennings but she
still needs a solid performance,” Beck
said. “Other players also have to con
tribute on the offensive end.”

may reach another Husker milestone
this weekend. The junior guard needs
just 10 assists to break theComhusker
all-time record of 445.
Offense hasn’t been a problem for
the Huskcrs this season. Nebraska is
averaging 83.8 points per game and is
leading the Big Eight in scoring.
“Our offense has been very pro
ductive,” Beck said. “We need to
concentrate on defense and rebound
ing to win both games this weekend.”
Beck said the matchups to watch in
the Kansas game will come in the
middle. Nebraska forward Sara
Offringa will guard 6-foot-2 Jayhawk
center Angela Aycock, who is aver
aging more than 17 points per game.
The Huskers, who fell out of the
Associated Press Top 25 this week,
arc still getting the respect they de
serve, Beck said.
“Although we may have lacked a
little confidence before, we have too
much now,” Beck said.
