The top ranked Cornhuskers are preparing for the NCAA championships this weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Buwick Continued from Page 9 “Nowadays, I don’t think anyone has a clear-cut advantage,” he said. “It all comes down to who has the most heart. The best team is the one that is able to pul two of the best meets together in 24 hours.” Although the Huskcrs will be competing in front of their home crowd, that doesn’t mean they’ll be favored, Buwick said, but it should help. “U’s definitely an advantage to host,” he said. “Probably the only advantage Nebraska has is its home court.”_ But even that isn ’t enough, he said. Competing in front of another team’s home crowd can sometimes bring out the best in other teams. “It’s always an incentive to chal lenge the crowd of the home team,” Buwick said. The pressure of the team finals is also enough to make a good team crumble, Buwick said. With two fresh men and five sophomores, Nebraska might be loo young to cope with that pressure, he said. “Nebraska’s relying on youth and inexperience,” he said. “Their kids haven’t gone through high-pressure situations like the team finals yet. “The athletes competing in the team finals will probably face more com petitive pressure than ever before.” That is when having a coach such a Allen will help the Huskers, Buwick said. Allen has led Nebraska to seven national championships in his 23 years at Nebraska. “Each coach has a different style in preparing a team, whether it’s physical or emotional,” he said. “Whatever he docs, Francis Allen is excellent in preparing a team for the national championships.” Videocassettes courtesy ot maxetl ^ ^A«r IBM l-oreal €© mazoa Nestle BJJgI j| flf MB J J | d :l WS
