Playboy models sign photos By Dionne Searcey Senior Editor Despite the rainy weather, about KM) fans of two UNL women who posed for Playboy’s “Girls of the Big Eight" issue turned out for autographs Wednesday, a manager of Reader’s Choice said. Thcron Waldman, a manager ai Reader’s Choice, said the store had sold four times as many Playboys this month because of the “Girls of the Big Eight” issue. “I expect to sell more,” he said “I’m glaid they’re here.” Kristin McIntosh, who posed clothed, and Angela Prucss, who posed semi-nude, autographed pictures of themselves in the April issue of Play boy at Reader’s Choice in the Atrium Mall downtown. Ten women from the University of Ncbraska-Lincoln beat out about 200 other students to be pictured in the magazine, Prucss said. McIntosh, a junior English major, and Prucss, a junior elementary edu cation major, signed the magazines from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jason Karrc, an undeclared fresh man who was at Reader’s Choice for autographs, said he respected the women’s choice to be photographed. “I respect them because they did what they wanted to,” Karre said. Jason Orton, a third-year student at Southeast Community College, said he wasn’t offended that the women posed in the magazine. “Some people look at it as disgust ing,” he said. ‘‘The human body should be respected.” Prucss said she thought the photos in Playboy were artistic. “I consider it art," she said. “It’s done in a very beautiful way.” McIntosh agreed. “Our pictures aren’t perverted,” she .said. Joyce Pocras of Lincoln said she liked the phptogrdphs. “But I’m looking at it from a dif ferent point of view — a woman’s point of view," she said. Heather Johnson, an undeclared sophomore, said she was at Reader’s Choice to have a copy of the Playboy issue autographed for her boyfriend. Johnson said she didn’t mind that he wanted a copy. “He asked for it,” she said. Orton said he came specifically to get McIntosh’s autograph. McIntosh and Pruess agreed that they had drawn a lot of attention to themselves by posing in Playboy. “I’ve made a lot of new friends,” Pruess said. But she and McIntosh said they had both received prank phone calls. McIntosh changed her phone num ber, she said. “Hopefully it will just blow over,” Pruess said. Pruess said she did not know how other students would treat her be cause she had not been on campus since the issue came out. “I don’t think people will pester me,” she said. “I’ll have to wait and sec.” Pruess said she started student teaching last week. She said she would , tell her students about the issue if she was asked. “I’m not embarrassed,” she said. Pruess said her parents supported her in her decision to be photographed. “At first they were a little appre hensive," she said. “But they believe' in my judgment” ihc resignation. “It’s just time to move on.” Huppert, 42, became the women’s head coach in 1976.
