Yedsena, who played 18 minutes after
returning from her injury, suffered only a
mild sprain.
Beck said she was disappointed that the
Comhuskers weren’t able to step forward
emotionally after closing the gap.
Jennings led the Huskers with 32 points
and 19 rebounds.
Her biggest contribution came in her work
off the ball, Beck said.
Nebraska also got significant contribu
tions from the bench. Junior Nafeesah Brown
scored 16 points and freshman Sauna With
erspoon had 10.
*‘We were four or five deep on the bench,”
Beck said. “We showed a little diversity.”
Defensively, the Huskers had trouble with
the transition game, Beck said.
“Both teams wanted to run tonight, but we
just didn’t get up and down the floor on
defense,” she said.
Nebraska’s emphasis on defense during
the preseason limited the team’s other as
pects, Beck said.
Beck said Athletes In Action, which upped
its record to 8-2, was a little more gelled than
the Huskers.
Nebraska, which beat the Belgium Na
tional Team, opens the season Nov. 22 against
Creighton.

Azzi was also the point guard for this year s
United States Pan-American team which lost
to Brazil and Cuba in Havana, Cuba. Although
the United States came home with a bronze
medal, fans grumbled because it didn’t win the
gold.
According to Azzi, those grumbles were
justified.
“We didn’t play well when we needed to
play well,” she said. “We were definitely a
better and more talented team than any team
down there. It we naa it to ao over again, i min*
we’d win.”
Another factor that hurt the United States’
chances, Azzi said, was the lack of cohesive
ness on the team.
“The chemistry just wasn’t there,” Azzi
said. “Personally, I just don’t think we were
together long enough.”
A second chance at a gold medal may come
for Azzi when she attempts to make the U.S.
Olympic team that will compete in 1992 in
Barcelona, Spain. Tryouts will be in May of
next year, and Azzi said she plans to give it a
go.
“(Playing in the Olympics) wasn’t really a
goal for me until I realized that I could do it,”
she said.
