ASUN resolves to revise pass, no pass process By Adeana Leftin Senior Reporter The Association of Students of the University of Nebraska Wednesday passed a resolution that supports streamlining the switching of pass/ no pass classes to graded classes. Graduate Sen. Rassem Dabbas, sponsor of the resolution, said re vising the procedure would be bene ficial to students. “A student who works hard for a class... should get the right to change it back to a grade,” he said. The current procedure involves students getting professors, depart ment heads, advisers and sometimes deans to OK the switch. - 4 4 _ A student who works hard for a class... should get the right to change it back to a 9rade- Dabbas ASUN senator -ff - Criminal Justice Sen. Rick Winter agreed that the process was long and involved. “I don’t think it’s a choice that all these people should have to make,” he said. “I think it’s a decision that students should make.” In other business, ASUN postponed until next Wednesday a bylaw amend ment that would change the way the Government Liaison Committee chairperson is appointed. In the past, the chairperson has been appointed by the ASUN presi dent The proposed amendment would require senate approval of the ap pointment. Speaker of the Senate Steve Th omlison said he moved to postpone a vote on the amendment because he wasn’t sure it complied with ASUN’s constitution. He said the constitution gives the president the exclusive, not shared, power to appoint the chairperson. Senate approval would limit that power, he said.
