Continued from Page 9
nal versions.
The highlight of the perfect show
for old Mould fans came when he
dusted off some Hiisker DU favorites,
breathing life into all-new interpreta
tions of “Chartered Trips,” “Makes
No Sense At A11,” “No Reservations,”
“Too Far Down” and “Celebrated
Summer.”
Likewise, “No RescrvaUons,” from
1987’s “Warehouse” LP and HUsker
DU’s best song ever recorded, “Cele
brated Summer,” from 1985’s “New
Day Rising” sounded tailor-made for
acoustic production. Mould left Vir
gin Records last spring and has been
touring since February on a one-man
acoustic show, covering the United
States and a large part of Australia.
The break from Virgin was not a
clean one.
“They signed Janet Jackson . . .
that’s part of it. I was having a lot of
problems with management because
it was the first time I’ve ever had
someone else ‘taking care of itiy af
fairs,”’ Mould said.
“They sort of lost the vision when
I was making ‘Black Sheets.’ They
didn’t like the idea... wanted another
‘Workbook,’ and it wasn’t another
‘Workbook.’” Mould said. “You want
to do different things. You want to
experiment. Sometimes you (mess)
up — so what. You’ve got a whole
lifetime. Everything shouldn’t hinge
on one record.”
“This acoustic tour... 1 told them
to stay completely away from it. I
don’t want you anywhere near it. I
said, ‘I’m not doing any press. I’m
not jumping through any hoops. I just
want to go out this year and play,”’
Mould said. “And after a week of
selling out all these gigs with no
advertising and no press, I said, ‘Why
do I need this headache?.”’
Mould said that after the acoustic
tour was over, he would think about
recording another album with one of
the several record companies that have
been talking to him.
“When I’m done playing, I’ll talk
to them. I don’t want to do press
(either) because... I don’t think I’ve
got that much to talk about... and the
things that I do think that are impor
tant, I’d rather wait until there’s a
record — something to focus every
body’s attention on,” Mould said.

END VIOLENCE NOW
In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness
M onth. we ha ve constructed a stop sign located in t he City
Union (West Galleria Wall) in order to create a statement
as well as an overall awareness concerning violence on
our campus.
This stop sign is for everyone. MALE and FEMALE, and
will represent a collective effort by UNL students and
faculty.
You can show your support by anonymously placing one
of the provided stickers on the actual stop sign from
October 21-Nov 4.
The purpose of this project is to show that violence of all
sorts DOES EXIST at UNL and must be STOPPED NOW.
