    Curator begins Plains center reign

Martha Kennedy, collections co
ordinator with Lincoln City Librar
ies, has taken the reins as curator of
the Center for Great Plains Studies.
Kennedy succeeded Jon Nelson,
the collection’s first curator, who will
retire Wednesday.
Before assuming her position with
the Lincoln City Libraries, Kennedy
was museum registrar at the Nebraska
State Museum of History in Lincoln
and was curator of photographs with
the California Historical Society
Library in San Francisco. Kennedy
holds masters’ degrees in art history
and library science from the Univer
sity of California at Berkeley.
She has presented workshops on
the care and preservation of photo
graphs and the identification and care
of historical photographs. Kennedy
also has an article forthcoming in
Nebraska History magazine dealing
with her research on “Nebraska’s
Women Photographers.”
