Christo
Continued from Page 12
which ran another $4,000.
Christo said he's usually look
ing at a five year or less pay-back
period for putting extra money
into the house.
Low-flush toilets, fluorescent
lighting, energy efficient appliances
and flow restrictors on shower
heads and faucets add to the sav
ings, Christo added. Christo's extra
touch, a recycling closet in the
kitchen, helps the recycling cause
by making it more convenient for
the owner.
Christo said the outside will be
landscaped like a wildlife habitat
area with trees and shrubs that
produce berries for animals, along
with fescue grasses that require
less watering and fertilizing than
the usual bluegrasses.
Frank Lloyd Wright also sug
gested that a home should flow
outward and the environment
should flow inward, he added.
Christo's project will be part of
the 1991 Parade of Homes, May 5
12.
