Cameron Everitt’s 22-foot jumper with 13 seconds remaining gave The Mod Squad the victory, capping a I wild second half that saw Primetime erase a 10-point deficit to take a five point lead late in the game. “It was pure luck,” Everitt said of his game-winning shot, “I just knew that we needed a shot quick so 1 took it.” The Mod Squad held a 10-point halftime lead despite a turnover plagued first half in which neither team could hit from the field. The two teams combined for only 10 first-half field goals, seven of them by the The Mod Squad. In the second half, however, Pri metime began to chip away at the Squad’s lead with an assault of three pomt field goals. Primetime’s Troy > Battling scored all 12 of his points on second half three-pointers, and Andy Hahn nailed two treys to give Pri metime a five-point lead with 2:45 left in the game. With 28 seconds left and Primetime holding a 38-37 lead, Primetime’s Mark Svoboda made one of two free throws to set up Evertft’s game win ner. Everitt led The Mod Squad, which finished the season 10-0, with 17 points. Andy Hahn scored 13 for Primetime, 9-2. , Farmhouse beats Phi Delta l heta In the Fraternity *C’ Final, Farm house C2 “kept its cool” to defeat Phi Delta Theta 62-50. From the opening lip, the game was physical and two second-half technical fouls on the Phi Delts were instrumental in stopping comebacks that might have made the game closer. “I always try personally to keep my cool out there,” Farmhouse’s David Swan said, “I consider it one of my strengths.” Farmhouse C2, 9-0, jumped to a 35-20 halftime lead using an attack ing man-to-man defense and a post up offense. “All year we’ve looked for a mis match and tried to exploit it, and tonight! guess it was cn rae,” Swan said. Swan scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first half. ^ In the second hatf, the Phi Delts j switched to a packed-in zone to con ccntrate on Swan, which left Lee Thurber open on the outside. Thurber finished with 19 points, 11 in the second half. The Phi Delts countered with an up-tempo offense and cut die deficit to seven points when flaring tempers resulted in a technical foul, and the swing in momentum helped Farm house extend its lead to 15 points. Later, with 4:45 remaining in the game. Phi Delta Theta was assessed another technical foul, this time stop ping a run that had brought the Phi Deus to within five points. Swan converted both free throws, Farmhouse scored on the ensuing possession and the Phi Delts weren’t able to get any closer. Ironically, despite getting help from the two Phi Dell technicals, Farm house was slapped with a technical foul before the game began, for hang ing on the rim during warm-ups. The Comhuskcrs scored their highest point total of the season in their final regular-season meet, though losing 194.2 to 189.95 at Alabama Friday. Lisa McCrady tied for second in the floor exercise, was third on the vault and third in the all-around competition. Debbie Bryan, Ne braska’s only other award winner, took second on the beam. The 5-2 Comhuskers finished pool play 1 -2 and were scheduled to face Kansas before the rain started tailing. In the loss to Southwest Louisi ana, Nebraska took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Southwest Louisi ana tied the game in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth. Stephanie Skcgas, 3-1, was the losing pitcher. Husker clivers qualify for NCAA meet Nebraska’s Amy Aarscn and John Arcaroli qualified for the NCAA swimming and diving cham pionships Saturday with their per formances at the NCAA Zone D qualifying moet in Fayetteville, Ark. Aarsen won the 3-mctcr board competition Friday and finished second in the 1-meter board com petition Saturday, with 396.75 points to 408.2 points for Kelly Jenkins of Texas. Aarscn, a returning All American, will compete at the women’s NCAA meet, Thursday through Sunday in Indianapolis. Arcaroli finished fourth in the men’s 3-metcr competition. He will compete in the men’s NCAA meet, March 28-30 in Austin, Texas.
