Sheehan Senior Editor She had her first psychic expe rience at age eleven. And like ner mother before her, Mrs. Roberts has dedicated this gift to helping others as a professional psychic, card and palm reader. Mrs. Roberts, using her profes sional name, said she really didn't train for her career as a psychic reader, but the more she practiced the better she became. "It's just like a little child that starts to walk," she explained. "He's not perfect; he's going to fall." Roberts said her mother, who was using the power profession ally at the time, explained to her how she used the gift. Her mother read while Roberts watched. "If you liked how your mother cooked and you wanted to cook, wouldn't you be in the kitchen watching how she made the pies," she said. "If you're not interested, while your mother was baking and cooking, you'd be outside doing something else." She also told her daughter how the power would feel as she got older and how the visions would get stronger. "At that time, I didn't really see visions, I just felt," she said. "Now, I feel and see them." Asked about the psychic ori gin, Roberts was emphatic. "A lot of people think it's some thing from the other side," she said. "No way, this is from God." Roberts pointed to the comer filled with religious icons, "That's where I do my praying and medi tation for people that are sick or have problems." Roberts said her mother still does psychic readings and her great grandmother also nad similar vi sions. Everyone has the ability for ESP, she said. The whole world has it, it's just that some have it more than others. "It's like a talent," Roberts explained. "There's some painters and then there's some (special) painters. No matter what they paint, it's beautiful. When you have a gift that God gives you, don't keep it to yourself." Roberts said her psychic read ing comes with a burst of energy after intense concentration on the client. "You have to meditate to go deeper, not just what you feel but you have to go deeper," she said. "It's like the difference between turning on the television then turn ing to the right channel you want to tune into. 1 tune into my mind to their lives — past, present and futures to see what is in store for them." Tarot cards, crystals and the horoscope are the current trend, she said. "Some people won't make a move without checking their horo scc she said. t Roberts said she doesn't offer horoscopes because of the time involved in processing the mathematical calcuiationsand the expense. "The cost runs more than other readings because of all the time involved, sometimes up to $200," she said. Roberts said she gets more ac curacy from her psychic readings than from the otner forms of pre diction. "The psyche is something that I can read from people well, while the cards I like Decause what I see, they can see," she explained. Picking her reading cards off the table, Roberts fanned the deck open. While the cards had suits like a normal deck, each card also had an accompanying picture. "It's just like reading a book," she said. The customer doesn't have to know how to read the cards but can follow along with the ictures. e person receiving the read ing shuffles the cards and the en tire deck is laid out on the table, Roberts said. Then she shows the customer how the pictures fit to gether. Reading the palm is good for things like predicting a long life or how many marriages, but "those will be revealed in the cards and the psychic reading too." she said. "Sometimes the palm won't re veal what the person wants to know."
