NU softball team defeats Wayne in doubleheader By David Moyer Staff Reporter The Nebraska softball team ran away with a doubleheader Sunday against Wayne State, winning 10-0 and 8-2 at the NU Softball Complex. The Comhuskers stole six bases in the second game, seven for the day, and took extra bases whenever possible. In the first game, Nebraska got strong pitching from Stepha nie Skegas. She gave up one hit in the shutout, pitching to the minimum number of batters. A second-inning single (the run ner was caught stealing) kept her from a perfect game. Michelle Cuddeford provided all the offense the Huskers needed, as she pounded out four RBI’s and reached base all three times up. Cuddeford got six RBI’s for both games. In the fifth, Jennifer Stevens singled to right and the right fielder threw wildly into left field. Joy Rishel scored and the game ended with the 10-run rule. In the second game, Marie Bowie gave up four hits and two runs in seven innings. Wolforth said he liked seeing the better pitching, although he thinks it still needs to improve by the Big Eight season. Shac Sloan had three hits in the second game. After a single, triple and double in her first three at bats, she had a chance to hit for the cycle in the sixth but lined to third to end the inning COMPANY OF WOLVES Opening Act "Barilla" Monday, September 24,1990 Tickets: $3 at the door.
