Variety of bands share stage this weekend

Mainstage
8th and P streets
Mothers Big Band, a standard jazz
big band, will perform from 6-7:15
p.m.
From 7:35-8:35 p.m., The Table
rockers, a blues, jazz, and R&B band
featuring Annette Murrell, will take
the stage.
Warner Brothers recording artists,
The Dynatoncs, will bring their lockin'
soul to the Mainstage for the street
dance from 9 p.m.-12 a.m.
The Great Hall of the Depot
7th Street
For some traditional folk and bal
lads, enjoy Kevin Avcy from 4 p.m.
5:45 p.m.
At 8 p.m., blues and country lis
teners can experience John Walker
Be on the lookout for Prairie Dogs.
Saturday, August 4

The New High Flyers will perform
from 12-1 p.m. Their styles include
country, swing and pop.
From 1:20-2:20 p.m., a jazz and
latin group known as the Gulzia Broth
ers and Friends will sway those seek
ing some culture.
For some rip-roarin’ Southsidc
Chicago blues, Magic Slim and the
Teardrops is just the ticket. He truly is
a magician. They play from 2:40
3:50 p.m.
Perhaps the highlight of the fes
tivities comes when the ever popular
Charlie Burton and the Hiccups bring
their humorous, blues-oriented rock
V roll to the stage. They will aston
ish from 4:10-5:10 p.m.
If you’re a little bit country , sit in
at 5:30 p.m. for The Sandy Creek
Band.
Take yourself back to the ’60s and
’70s with Mr. Peabody from 6:40
7:35 p.m.
At 7:55 p.m., B and the Hot Notes
will perform. They’re a bit of swing,
blues and rock.
D.C.’s hottest blues/rock band, The
Nighiiiawks, will be the grand finale
for Saturday night. T he street dance
beginsat 9 p.m. and lasts until 12 a.m.
Street Stage

Zapatos Alegrcs, a Hispanic chil
dren’s dance group will perform from
12:30-1:30 p.m.
Be sure to catch the Native Ameri
can Dance Group at 2 p.m. They will
perform in full ceremonial dress.

Sabor Mexicanofroni 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The Great Hall of the Depot
Classical music makes its entrance
in the festivities with The Prairie Wind
Quintet from 1:30-3:15 p.m.
Arlie Prokop will perform some
Celtic and Irish folk songs from 3:30
5:15 p.m.
Dixieland, jazz, pop and classical
music will be performed by The
Nebraska Brass at 5:30 p.m.
Classical music for violin, viola
and cello will be played from 7:30
8:15 p.m. by The Nebraska Chamber
Orchestra string quartet.
Sunday, August 5
Main stage
For some traditional bluegrass,
savor the sounds of The Bluegrass
Crusade from 12-1 p.m.
Femes! Arceneaux and the Thun
ders, an authentic Zydeco band from
Si. Martinville, La. will bring its cul
ture to the stage from 1:20-3:40 p.m.
Reggae, salsa and SKA will be
played by The Blue Mangos at 4 p.m.
Be ready for some polyrhythms.

jamin will perform folk songs from
5:15-6 p.m.
The Great Hall of the Depot
John Walker will play from 12:30
1:15 p.m., Arlie Prokop again from
1:30-2:15.
At 2:15 p.m., Ted Eschliman will
play contemporary Christian music.
He is one of those digital dudes.
Kevin Avey will perform for a
second time from 5:15-6 p.m.
Street Stage
The schedule here is a mirror of
Friday’s events, witn the same per
formers returning for those who missed
the first shows.
No matter what your cultural or
entertainment preference, the Sum
mertime Nebraska Festival has some
