    Author portrays Soviet character
By Kara Wells
Staff Reporter
Dick Kimbrough likes to tell sto
ries.
A master storyteller, Kimbrough
will entertain avid listeners this week
end at Summertime Nebraska in the
Haymarket.
Kimbrough says he has a variety
of stories he tells, ranging from the
assassination of Abraham Lincoln to
a tale about Grover Cleveland Alex
ander, a famous Nebraska baseball
player.
But Kimbrough says he is best
known for his character Dr. Viktor
Ustinov, a Soviet deputy minister of
Economics.
With his Soviet character, Kim
brough says, he discusses similarities
between the Soviet Union and the
United States.
“I get students to think about the
economic and the free enterprise
system,” he said.
As a former teacher, Kimbrough
has taken his talent for storytelling
and formed a company that special
izes in cuniculum enrichment pro
grams for elementary and high school
students.
For his story ideas, Kimbrough
says he draws on stories he has pub
lished in five books. Kimbrough also
had a nationally syndicated column
carried in approximately 200 news
papers nationwide.
—
Kimbrough also is involved with
the University of Nebraska Center for
Entrepreneurship, for which he is
presenting a series on starting busi
nesses, and he is a performer with the
i
Nebraska Arts Council.
Kimbrough is scheduled for per
formances on Saturday at 6 and 8
p.m. and Sunday at 2:15 and 5:15
p.m.
