lente^i n inent_ Harlem Globetrotters coming to Lincoln On their 64th tour, those mischievous and miraculous Houdinis of die hard court, the internationally famous Harlem Globetrotters, are coming to Lincoln. Currendy riding an awesome, totally far-out, world-record winning streak of nearly 7,000 consecutive games, the Harlem Globetrotters have come to attack the capital city. The amazing Globetrotters are coming to Pershing Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Feb 13 to face their long-time rivals, the Washington Generals. Gone are the days of Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal, those masters of the game of hoops. But the magicians of basketball are still a sight to catch if you like fancy basketball and plenty of tricks, confetti and dropped shorts. Prices for reserved seating are $16, $11 and $9. Tickets are on sale now at the Pershing box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, including Younkers and the Nebraska and East un ions. Hanna Continued from Page 9 Lincoln front, let’s try to do away with neon clothes. Neon fashion was a tragic cancer of the ’80s that we must surgically remove in the ’90s. Those who know me may protest, “But Jim, you double-standarded hick. You have a neon green jacket with a matching ear guard.” Okay, so this is true. But I don’t wear it a lot, and when I do, I feel really guilty. And do we really need The Beach Boys anymore? Who wants to see 50 year-old men playing all of their music to the screaming 14-year-olds they hire to come to their concerts? They should retire to the sands of Kokomo and leave me alone. And can big hair be outlawed in the ’90s? I suppose I should quit complain ing, but it’s how I make my living. I will start to bring this to a close, but before I do, I feel I must address one issue that quite literally has me scared out of my puny mind. Ya see, from the mid to late ’80s, there was a big nostalgia kick for the ’60s. The summer of ’89 was espe cially drenched in hippie flashbacks, what with the 20th anniversary of Woodstack. I mean Woodstock. Now, this is all fine because I happen to have a fondness for the music and history of the late ’60s. It was a cool time, and I don’t mind reliving a bit of it. But my skull shudders and my mind reels at the prospect of a ’70s revival sometime in the late ’90s. If these nostalgia cycles continue, we’ll soon be up to the late ’70s College kids in 1997 may return to the hottest fashions of 1977, and quite frankly, I’m frightened. Just as The Who and The Rolling Stones did reunion tours last year, 1999 may see reunion tours from Ambrosia, Air Supply and the Vil lage People. We can only hope ozone depletion will have killed us all by then. Big Continued from Page 10 nizing experience. The lead singei tells the story of his trials and tribula tions of manifest destiny. The last song “Good God,” is a live song, which adds a refreshing, long-awaited end to the album. There is definite potential here. But The Big F needs to show some consistency. 2 Appliances 74 Social Services 3 Bicycles 76 Travel 4 Books 78 Tutoring 5 Clothing 80 Typing 4 Resumes 6 Computers l~"" R Furniture 9 Garage Sales -— 10 Misc.
